NAGA PUJA AT THE ABBEY

For the Abbey community, living on the land means living in harmony with many beings, many of which we cannot see. Some of them live in large trees and near water and are known to influence the weather.

Every spring Venerable Chodron does a puja for these beings, offering them food and good wishes and making a request for timely rains. After the puja, the community takes the food offerings and places them at the base of the largest trees on the land and everywhere there is water.

It’s a wonderful way to make a connection to the land and to those that dwell on it with us.

Water is a precious commodity in the world these days. The spring is a welcome sign.
