The virtue of loving kindness is a foundational meditation practice, but face it: it’s not easy to share with every person we meet. His Holiness the Dalai Lama famously states, “My religion is kindness,” which he models by extending his authentic warmth to everyone. How does he do it? Venerable Thubten Chonyi, a nun from Sravasti Abbey, shares reflections from Tibetan Buddhism that open our eyes to the kindness all around us, thereby opening our hearts to extend our metta practice—on and off the cushion—to every being.
