One way of cultivating loving-kindness is to see the kindness that we have received from loved ones, strangers, and even enemies. Do we keep that in mind when criticized by others or cut off in traffic? Venerable Thubten Rinchen will share passages from Śāntideva’s Bodhisattvacaryāvatāra (Engaging in the Bodhisattva’s Deeds), an 8th century Indian text, that illustrate how even jerks have benefited us in this life.
