Berlin: Public Talk with Ven. Thubten Jampa

Women, Buddha, and Mind Power:
Tibetan Buddhism and Mental Tools to Achieve Gender Equality
A public talk with Sravasti Abbey’s Ven. Thubten Jampa
It’s been —and continues to be—a long path for women’s equality, equal opportunities, and equal participation in all walks of life. Surprisingly, this is also true for Tibetan Buddhism.
While Buddhist spirituality and teachings do not directly address the “men-women-dilemma,” this division is a hard-felt reality for many Buddhists today. Many Buddhist women and men are working with intelligence and determination to transform the social norms of the past. For women to stay strong, calm, and open-hearted in their effort, mind training offers essential, if not indispensable, tools for the path.
Ven. Thubten Jampa—a Sravasti Abbey nun and social scientist originally from Berlin—will give us an insight into the changes that are occurring in Tibetan Buddhist life. She will also offer participants practical tools to strengthen their mental power in order to support gender-sensitive men and women on their way toward a society based on gender-equality.
Ven. Jampa’s talk is in German.
Organized by MEEET, a network of coaches, trainers, and consultants in Berlin, Germany.
