Looking Into the 12 Links of Dependent Origination
with Ven. Thubten Chonyi
hosted by South Carolina Dharma Group
Saturday & Sunday
10:30-12 pm & 1-3 pm Eastern Time
(7:30-9 am & 10-12 pm Pacific)
The Buddha teaches that our happiness and suffering arise from causes that we ourselves create. How does that work? And why do we continue to cycle through the unsatisfactory realms life after life?
The twelve links of dependent origination explain the causal chain that perpetuates rebirth in cyclic existence and the pathway to liberation from it. Join Ven. Thubten Chonyi for a practical introductory exploration.
The course includes Dharma talks, discussion, and meditation.
Registration is Required: Send name, email address, phone number, and Zoom username to SC Dharma Group
There is no fee, but offering dana is encouraged. Write SCDG for details.
Retreat Advice
Since this course is happening over Zoom, it may be a challenge to simulate a retreat environment. However, you are encouraged to do the best you can. You can spend your free time in silence as much as possible, avoid social media, read Dharma books, and add personal meditation sessions on the topic. Here’s a link with good tips for doing a retreat at home.
Venerable Thubten Chonyi
Venerable Thubten Chonyi has studied Buddhist meditation and philosophy with Venerable Thubten Chodron since 1996. Since 2007 she has trained full-time at Sravasti Abbey, studying with Ven. Chodron and a number of superb Tibetan geshes and Buddhist scholars. At the Abbey, Ven. Chonyi focuses mainly on communications—website content, publicity, and so forth—and shares the Dharma online. This is her fourth Dharma sharing with SC Dharma Group including two pre-Covid in-person visits.
