A multi-faith workshop to support faith communities responding to Human Trafficking in the Spokane Region, with an emphasis on addressing the commercial sexual exploitation of adults and youth.
The objective of the workshop is to increase awareness and understanding of human trafficking in the Spokane Region and explore strategies for addressing the needs of the victims/survivors. Workshop participants will receive the most current information on research and best-practices, as well as share ideas about how faith communities can respond in an effective, compassionate, and informed manner.
Overview of Human Trafficking in Spokane: Basic advocacy for survivors and local resources. Facilitated by Debbie DuPey, State Certified Victim Advocate and Educator with Lutheran Community Services Northwest.
Interactive Experience: Keynote speaker Marian Beaumier will help participants understand the impact of trauma on victims and explore the concept of trauma informed care.
A Multi-Faith Panel: Representation from Christian, Buddhist, Islam, and Jewish traditions. Panelists, including Ven. Thubten Chodron, will offer information about how their own communities are responding to human trafficking.
