Sydney: When We Get Discouraged
July 3 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm AEST
A Public Talk with Ven. Thubten Chonyi
As socially engaged Buddhists, we seek to bring our Buddhist values to bear against injustice and suffering in all its forms. But what do we do when the weight of samsara overwhelms us? How to do we cultivate courage to “keep the faith” with our practice and our engagement?
Venerable Thubten Chonyi in conversation with Sydney’s Association of Engaged Buddhists to explore ways to overcome discouragement when our ideals and the truth of samsara collide.
Venerable Thubten Chonyi trains at Sravasti Abbey in the USA, where she has lived for 12 years under the guidance of Venerable Thubten Chodron. Social service is an important part of the Abbey’s mission, and was significant in Ven. Chonyi’s life as a lay Buddhist as well. She’s looking forward to learning about social engagement in Australia.
