Winter Retreat: 1-Month Buddha Meditation and Lamrim Retreat
January 3 @ 4:00 pm - January 31 @ 10:00 am PST
The annual Winter Retreat offers a beautiful opportunity to deepen Dharma practice. This winter’s retreat focuses on the Shakyamuni Buddha practice with meditations on the gradual path (lam rim).
If you wish to deepen you refuge, strengthen your connection with the Three Jewels, and study the steps of the path to awakening, this one-month retreat is for you.
The Shakyamuni Buddha practice text clearly guides you through the steps to cultivate refuge and bodhicitta, to visualize the Buddha, and meditate on emptiness. It also outlines the visualizations that accompany the prayers and recitations to purify and generate merit. The practice also includes recitation of the Buddha’s mantra — tayata om muni muni maha muniye soha. Each session, retreatants will also insert an analytic meditation on the stages of the path to awakening based.
The retreat schedule includes 5 meditation sessions daily, as well as weekly teachings with Ven. Thubten Chodron. You will practice with the nuns and monk of the Abbey community. The retreat is held in silence.
Arrive by 3 pm on January and depart any time after 9:00 a.m. on January 31.
