Winter Retreat: Amitabha Buddha
February 14, 2018 @ 3:00 pm - March 14, 2018 @ 12:00 pm PST
The annual One-Month Winter Retreat offers a beautiful opportunity to deepen Dharma practice. This winter’s retreat will focus on the practice of Amitabha, Buddha of Infinite Light.
The schedule includes five meditation sessions daily, as well as a daily study session and weekly teachings with Ven. Thubten Chodron. You will practice with the nuns and monk of the Abbey community. The retreat is held in silence.
The Amitabha practice helps to purify the mind, accumulate merit, cultivate concentration and wisdom, and create the conditions by which ordinary beings can be reborn into the pure land of Sukhavati, where everything is conducive for Dharma practice.
Detailed Winter Retreat information is on our Winter Retreat page. Guidelines for how to prepare for the retreat, including how to download the practice outline (sadhana), are posted here.
The Abbey offers excellent retreat conditions—beautiful environment, spiritual guidance, community support, and comfortable accommodations.
If you’ve been meditating for a while, have a steady practice, have studied the lam rim (gradual path) and want go deeper, consider the Winter Retreat. Please fill out the long application to apply.
