Sravasti Abbey through the eyes of eleven-year-old Kristen Garner:

My visit to the Abbey. Hmmm. Well, let’s just say that I loved it. There is just a feeling that I get when I come here that makes me want to hug everyone in sight. Some of the nicest people I have ever met live here. Like Nanc, for example. My brother said at the kitchen table that he collects coins. So after lunch Nanc got some of her old coins out and gave them to my brother. And the people here own twenty things at the most, so I think that Nanc is a very generous person, and she is well on her way to becoming a nun.

Jan, too. She gave my brother her whole stamp collection, which filled a book that was a good two inches thick. And Nerea. Even though she had a whole list of things to do, she stopped right in the middle of what she was doing, and came to help me cook dessert. And Venerable Chodron. No matter what she has to do, she is always willing to take a walk, or to make a pie. All of these people make me feel so good about myself I cannot even begin to describe it.
